ERSO's Faculty Speaking Series launched on January 22nd with Professor Ken Goldberg, William S. Floyd Jr. Distinguished Chair in Engineering and Chief Scientist at Ambidextrous Robotics. ERSO staff enjoyed learning about Professor Goldberg's research in robotics and AI. His lecture was captivating and all in the audience were engaged. Over 50 ERSO staff attended the lecture. A huge thank you to Professor Goldberg for sharing his precious time with us!

It was very exciting to see Angela Brito-Baldwin, Sarah Gaugler and Derek Johnson pose with Chancellor Christ at the RA Appreciation event on 1-15-20 where they were recognized for their significant contributions as research administrators. Angela was recognized as the Rookie of the Year, Sarah was recognized for the Superstar and Derek was recognized for the Big Kahuna. It was a lovely event at the Bancroft Hotel. Various senior leaders thanked the research administration community for their many contributions and impact on research at Berkeley. Our own Tom Parsons and Sanchita Pal were on the event's planning committee and their hard work was evident. Way to go Angela, Sarah and Derek, we are proud of you!

ERSO staff enjoyed time together at the Holiday party on December 18th. Wonderful food, festivities and cheer was had by all.

01/14/2020 - Last day to complete hiring paperwork.

ERSO Receiving deadlines:

  • Shipments received at 266 Sutardja Dai Hall by Thursday, December 19th will be delivered by Friday, December 20th.
  • Any shipment received after Thursday, December 19th will be delivered by Thursday, January 2nd.

Supply Chain Management (SCM) will have reduced staffing from December 20, 2019 through January 3, 2020 for the winter break.

  • The BearBuy system will remain up and available to campus users during this period.
  • Turnaround time will be slower than published Service Levels due to limited staff availability. We strongly advise that departments submit purchase requests for services and high value orders (over $10,000) no later than December 2nd if the goods or services are needed between December 20th and January 3rd.
  • Emergency acquisitions and automatic approvals (such as catalog orders under $5,000.00) will continue to be processed over the curtailment period of December 24 through January 1. If you have an emergency during this time, please email your assigned buyer and copy supplychain@berkeley.edu with the subject line "Emergency Acquisition" and a description of the business need. A buyer will contact you as soon as possible during regular business hours. Emergencies are defined as purchases necessary to protect the life-safety of the campus community or required to maintain research and business continuity.
