Q. How is computer support defined in the ERSO organization model?
A. Computer support is defined as desktop support, web support, email, networking, and database support for the ERSO core research administration functions, including development and maintenance of in-house administrative systems. This does not include programmer/analysts involved in programmatic research or the development of computer models used in the conduct of the research unit.

 

Q. How do I get a CalNet ID?
A. CalNet ID is obtained automatically when HR enters the employee in the HR system (HRMS). It will be the same as the Staff ID #. To activate the Calnet ID (“Obtain a Token”) contact IT Services via email: ersoithelp@erso

 

Q. How do I sign up for a guest computer account?
A. To get an AirBears “guest account” please go to:

Q. How do I obtain access to the ERSO Intranet?
A. Please email a request to: ersointranet@erso
With the subject line: Create an ERSO Intranet account
Include the following information:

  • Full Name
  • Department (if applicable)
  • Email
  • Title
  • CalNet UID (look in People Finder)
  • Supervisor's Name (if applicable)
  • PI's Name (if applicable)
  • Special access (apply to staff only)

 

Q. How do I access my files remotely?
A. You can login to your EECS account and access your files on the network by logging into a remote terminal server:
  1. On any computer; make sure that you are connected to the Internet.
  2. Go to Start > Run > type in "mstsc".
  3. The Remote Desktop Connection window opens.
  4. Go to Options, select the Local Resources tab. Check the boxes for Printer and Disk Drives to access local printers as well as hard drives of the local computer.
  5. Click Connect.
  6. In the box for "Computer" enter "erso-ts.eecs.berkeley.edu".
  7. The gray screen opens, read the message and click "Okay".
  8. Logon using your Windows EECS login and password. Your files are available as if you were in Cory.
  9. To disconnect the session, Click Start, then select Log Off.

 

Q. Where do I set up an out of the office message?
A. Go to https://eecs.berkeley.edu/mail.
Login with your email credentials.
Navigate to
OPTIONS at the top.
On the next page
VACATION MESSAGE also on the top..
Enter the dates for your vacation.
Enter the text for your vacation message.
Check the enable box.

Q. Where do I set up controls for the EECS\SPAM folders?
A. Go to: EECS White & Black Lists
Login with your email name and password.
